lived and breathed: I have spent the greatest part of my life in Southeast Texas, attending high school in Port Neches, Texas. I completed my B.S. in Criminal Justice at Lamar University, MA in Sociology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and Ph.D. in Sociology from Western Michigan University. I have 10 years work experience as an adult probation officer and drug treatment court program coordinator. Currently, I am Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, Criminology, and Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
the fam: I have been married since 1993. The majority of our family remains in Texas. My wife and I have one dog (Gray) and two cats (Niles and Fraser).

interests: My interests include correctional treatment, especially as they relate to meditation and mindfulness.
I have taught meditation and mindfulness classes to criminal justice populations and guided meditation at a yoga studio. Mostly due Scott Stillman’s Wilderness, I have a renewed interest in hiking and camping.
